Due to the development of technology, computer has becomes necessary for our daily life. There are two kinds of computer, Laptop and Desktop. Yet Laptop is very popular today because it is portable computer created in many versions. Laptop in the public eye is Netbook and Notebook. Both Laptops have many points of difference. I will compare the design, performance and price of Netbook and notebook point by point.

Design is the first thing for the customer to make a decision to choose one computer. So, Netbook has a small size that is portable everywhere. Its size is only 7.5x10 inches and its weight is only about 1 - 1.5 kilograms that is comfortable to bear. The user may be feeling annoyed about the small screen and keyboard. The screen is only 7 – 10 inches small. In the same way, Notebook is the computer that is suitable outdoor similar to Netbook. Despite the fact, Notebook focuses on capability more than size. Notebook has the size larger than Netbook obviously that has impact on the screen and keyboard. The standard screen is 14 inches and its weight is about 2.5 kilograms. So, the large size of Notebook makes it easy to use but it is weightier than Netbook.

The performance is obviously different. The ability of Netbook emphasizes on internet working. The basic applications that don’t use high performance such as watching movie or listening to music from website, playing internet, typing papers, opening folder and playing only flash games. The best working of Netbook is single -tasking which is out of keeping with multi -tasking and open many applications in the same time. On the other hand, Notebook has varied uses not only basic applications but also specific use that need higher abilities such as graphics, movie maker program and 3D games also. Moreover, Notebook can open multi -tasking without any problem.

Furthermore, the price is important that make it different. Owing to, the materials and options in Netbook, it does not focus on capability and high speed that has impact on the price of Netbook. The Netbook is cheap in the market that is convenient for general customers who want to buy a low price portable computer. On the contrary, the price of Notebook is more expensive than Netbook depending on specifications and performances of Notebook. For instance, if Notebook can do a task speedily or have distinctive options, it will be expensive. The price of Notebook is over 20,000 baht. Although Notebook is expensive, it is worthwhile. However, the most city life stays outside more than stay home nowadays. So, Netbook is the good answer because of its comfort and mobility. In addition, Netbook is the second choice for the people who had Desktop or Notebook and who are beginners. Netbook has the price from 9xxx until 13xxx baht only. In 2008, Netbook was marketed over 10 million units that made Intel Atom out of stock. It makes many people consider that Netbook is not the second choice anymore. The research around the world indicated Netbook has become the first computer for the people who have no computer since the price is an important factor.

You will see that technology supports daily life excellently. We ought to choose the appropriate style. If you want the best performance computer, Notebook is your answer. But if you want the low price and small computer, Netbook is the best choice.

PlayStation

Sony is one of the world’s largest multinational conglomerate corporation that electronics, communications, video game consoles, video and information technology products. Among these products we should keep an eye on video game consoles because PlayStation is the product that makes many a lot of money to Sony. PlayStation gets a good feedback from the gamers, so PlayStation is manufactured and upgraded continually. The PlayStation can be divided into three types according to performances.

The first category is low performance. The example is a PlayStation 1 that was launched in 2000. It is the first version of PlayStation video game console. The PlayStation 1 has a beautiful body and Graphical User Interface (GUI) menu. A GUI is a type of user interface which allows people to interact with electronic devices such as computers, MP3 Players, Portable Media Players or Gaming device household appliances and office equipments. In addition, it added a protection against the modchip. The PlayStation 1 used a CD –Rom for disc media. The CPU is 32 bit and its capacity is 30 MIPS [Million Instructions Per Second]. The graphics has 16.7 million colors and 360,000 polygons/sec displaying rate. The main Random Access Memory is 2 megabytes and the VRAM is 1 Megabyte. The sampling frequency of sound is 44.1 KHz and the sound ram is 512 K.

The second category is medium performance. It is a PlayStation 2 that is backward compatible with its predecessor. It can play almost every PlayStation game. It embeds the most important part of the PS1 inside the PlayStation 2 which is called the IOP, that is used for input and output such as memory card, DVD drive, network and hard drive. The disc media of PlayStation 2 are CD and DVD. The CPU is128 bit custom multi-media Emotion Engine chip. Furthermore, the graphic is better in 2D and 3D games. The graphic processor unit is 150 MHz, called Graphics Synthesizer. Besides that, the PS2 can play most disc media such as all original PlayStation games, DVD movies, and audio CDs. The output frequency is 48 KHz and 2MB sound memory. Moreover, there are 48 channels with 3D surround sound. The sound memory is 2 MB and the main memory is 32 MB.

The third category is high performance. It is PlayStation 3 that is the third generation of PlayStation. The PlayStation 3 is backward compatible with all games that made for PlayStation 1 originally. It uses a high –definition optical disc format that is Blu-Ray Disc. The PlayStation 3 is the first product that applies the Blu-Ray player on the market. It uses 3.2 GHz “Cell Broadband Engine” as CPU. The graphics processing are handled by the NVIDIA RSX called reality synthesizer which can output resolution from 480i/576i SD up to 1080p HD. The PlayStation 3 has the PlayStation network that is unified online gaming service so, it can connect with PlayStation Portable. The capacity is 40-120 GB. The PlayStation 3 Games are full 3D games. The sound is Dolby 5.1 with 3.2 GHz. The main ram is 25.6GB/s and the VRAM 22.4 GB/s.

In my opinion, PlayStation 3 has the best graphics processor unit because it has many functions that are better than PlayStation 1 and PlayStation 2. The successes of PlayStation3, PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 1 are still popular and have high circulation. By the way, I think that “PlayStation 3 is the next generation video game console that will not be obsoleted in the next 10 years.”

Video game console

If someone wants to relax from many pressures, playing game is the one of many choices that interesting. Not only children who like to play game, but adults also. Playing games provides entertainment that makes it is popular. So, video games were manufactured in many kinds and versions earmark for demands of gamers. The appeal of playing games is good games. In addition, good video game consoles that can make games more gripping and amusing. A video game console is an interactive entertainment computer or electronic device that is used for playing video games. There are many kinds of video game consoles. For instance, the video game console that is used for playing in the home or a handheld game console that is portable and can be held in a user's hands. Although, there are many kinds of video game consoles that we can choose such as Nintendo, Virtual boy, 3Do and many others, but the most popular video game consoles in this period are Playstation, Wii and Xbox.

The first example is PlayStation, the video game console created by Sony Company Entertainment. There are many versions of PlayStation was manufactured and launched. Some instance is Net Yaroze that is a special black PlayStation with tools and instructions to program PlayStation games and applications or PSone that is a smaller version of the original. PlayStation was becoming the first video game console that reaches 100 million mark. The PlayStation 3 is the third and current iteration in the series that is interesting. The coming of PlayStation 3 looks like a big wave that consists of super capabilities and games. There is much game’s companies announced list of games to install in PlayStation 3. For example, Resident Evil 5 from CAPCOM Company, Dragon Ball from Bandai Company, Final Fantasy XIII from Square Anix Company and many others. Accordingly, PlayStation 3 becomes the favorite of the future video game console. There are three color for choose such as black, white and silver. Though, PlayStation 3 started after Xbox 360 but PlayStation prevailed over in every point and it will be the champion of the video game console.

The second example is Wii, the fifth video game console of Nintendo Company. It was marketed which was known by the code name “Revolution.” In fact, Nintendo indicated the name of this video game console is “Wii” not “Nintendo Wii.” So, Wii is the first video game console of Nintendo which markets a product against abroad by not using name “Nintendo.” The Wii remote is the primary controller of the console that makes it different from other consoles. A distinguishing feature of Wii remote is a wireless controller. It can be used as a handheld pointing device and detect movement. Moreover, there is a loudspeaker in Wii remote that when we are playing the game, it will give a sound following the kind of games we play. For example, if we play the baseball game, it will have the sound like baseball glance off the yard. The games that fling in Wii console are Wii sports and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. There are five sports simulations, including tennis, baseball, golf, bowling and boxing, in Wii sports. Wii makes the players feel like they are in the real games. You must be so tired when playing games because it is like you are doing a lot of exercises. Boxing is a case in point. The third example is Xbox, the first video game console produced by Microsoft Corporation. The greatest success of the Xbox is Xbox games such as Halo: combat evolved. Specifically, Halo 2 is the best seller of Xbox games worldwide. Microsoft launched Xbox Live online gaming service on November 15, 2002. It shows the comfortable of the Xbox’s players. One illustration of this idea is allowing the player to play online Xbox games with other players around the world. In 2005, Microsoft released the second version of Xbox called Xbox 360. In U.S.A. It is available in three standard variants such as Xbox 360 Arcade, the Xbox 360 and the Xbox 360 Elite. Here are a few examples: in July 2007, Microsoft created a specially designed the yellow Xbox 360 console to promote The Simpsons Movie. Call of duty 2 was the best seller game for 2005. It was sold over a million copies. The other games have a good sale such as Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, The Elder scrolls 4, Dead or Alive, Saints Row and Gears of war. In 2007, Halo 3 became the best- selling game of the console with 8.1 million units. The Xbox 360 competes with Sony’s Playstation 3 and Nintendo’s Wii as part of the seventh generation of the video game console.
Now, video game console continually develops and is launched progressively. Obviously seen, each video game console has varied abilities and different options from each game’s company. In my opinion, the true factor to render a decision to choose the video game console are the game software and the assurance of the gamer for the game’s corporation. However, it depends on the consideration of each person that wants to use in what option. But don’t forget the main purpose of video game console that is entertainment. By the way, I never thought playing game is a good idea to help relax myself, but now I think it can help me a lot.

Computer Graphics

Today computer has impact in everyday life. Obviously seen from every cash or monetary transaction that takes place daily involves a computer. It is true to computer graphics. Computer graphics includes almost everything on computer that is not only text or sound. Computer graphics are all around you. You can see them from television, newspaper, or in advertisement. Computer graphics is also called as CG that is a data processing by using computer to insert figure, alphabet or signal. It is modeling and drawing picture on computer, also called rendering. It shows the result on screen that is geometry data such as figure, color, pattern, light and shadow including other information of the picture. A computer graphics is an important thing now because we can use it to create a several amazing things. Do you know that a cartoon book also using a computer graphic? I believe that you may have heard the word “2D” or “3D” but do you know what it is mean? I think of a few people know the history about CG. So, in the next paragraph I will tell you about the history and then the “2D” and “3D” meaning later.

In 1940, computer showed the graphics by a printer the result is an image coming from many alphabets brought together. In 1950, Massachusetts Institute Technology developed computers that have Cathode Ray Tube. Cathode Ray Tube is also called as CRT that is a display taking the place of printer because of appetency to contact during user and computer coprocessor. In the same year, SAGE (Semi – Automatic Ground Environment) is hold by USA. Air Force can change the signal from radar become to graphics on computer. This system is the first graphics that use the Light Pen to choose the signal on screen. The Light Pen is a computer input device that acts somewhat like a mouse. 2D stands for two-dimensional that is the computer-based generation of digital images—mostly from two-dimensional models and by techniques specific to them. It is mainly used in applications that were developed upon traditional printing and drawing technologies. Graphic can separate into 2 kind, bitmap and vector. Bitmap is the image which saves data with pixel or a bit point that shows color unit. For this reason, the image was born from many little points gathered together to make each image save many data. When we apply it, we can compress and format the data of bitmap such as .BMP, .PCX, .GIF, .JPG, .TIF. Vector means the image that creates by body of features line and property about color line. Moreover, it was created by Boolean logic example a human picture which was manufactured with many point of line, is body of outline. Colors of human picture occur from that color of outline line and space in that surface. The vector which we are familiar is .wmf that is clipart in Microsoft Office. Besides, you can find this format picture with Adobe Illustrator or Macromedia Freehand.

If we advert to 3D graphics, we will think of 3D computer graphics software or Virtual Reality. But nowadays, 3D graphics infiltrate into every circle and has become more dominant. Some works bring 3D graphics out to use fully. Not only in internet that VRML grow apace including in work of presentation is which 3D presentation more interesting. VRML comes from the word Virtual Reality Module Language. It is an international language for creating 3D graphics on network. 3D computer graphics are graphics that use a three-dimensional representation of geometric data that is stored in the computer for the purposes of performing calculations and rendering 2D images. Nokia didn’t start the business about electronics first but began with paper manufacturer held by engineer name Fredrik Idestam. At present, video games are produced in many versions. No matter how, the common form of every game is created in situations for the players to solve the problem by assigning different purposes and rules in each game. Video game console was produce and developed continually to support the demand of the players. One of all is PlayStation which is acquainted in the collective gamers. As a result, the PlayStation is the most popular video game console in this century.

PlayStation is a video game console, which is manufactured by Sony Computer Entertainment in December 1994. The PlayStation was marketed in many versions in the same type. After succeeding in the market, Sony has upgraded many products such as PS one, PlayStation2, PlayStation Portable and PlayStation3 in the latest. PlayStation is the first concept to work with CD-ROM technology. There are many popular games of PlayStation such as Winning Eleven3, Twisted Metal2, Tekken3 and Rockman X4. PS one is the one version of PlayStation video game console that is developed from the original PlayStation. It was released in 1998 which smaller than the original PlayStation. There are three points that made PS one different from the original. First, PS one gives precedence to features more than the original. Second, the home menu’s Graphical User Interface that is a type of user interface that allows people to interact with electronic devices like computer hand-held devices. I think it’s funny more than playing alone.

PlayStation3 (PS3) is the third home video game console next to PlayStation2. It uses a high-definition optical disc format called “Blu-ray Disc”. It’s the first Blu-ray video game console on the market. The surprise of PS3 is GPU RSX (Graphic Processing Unit) because it consists of 300 transistors. Accordingly, it can show the result on two screens continually. The graphic’s capability liken to super GPU. PlayStation3 receives acceptance from several game companies not only in Japan but all over the world. I think, PS3 has the ability like a super computer, it is compared with a new wave in the sea of video game console. Moreover, I believe that PS3 can make super graphics which is the leader of video game console in the future.

However, PlayStation continually develops and is released progressively with many various functions more and more. In my opinion, PlayStation is the number one choice of video game console for gamers. Though, playing games are equal in addictive substance for the children in Thai society. But this addictive substance doesn’t give only disadvantages if we know how to manage time. This addictive substance make the player relax.
